It may have been a weekend of snowfall and freezing rain but that didn’t stop me from attending the BMSC Splash swim meet this past Sunday.
Despite the weather, there was great attendance and the energy of the pool was incredible. My favourite supporters Ryan, Syra and Sophia were there to cheer me on and even made a little banner which fuelled my laps to reach 2,941!! Thank you guys!!
In this meet I swam the following events:
- 100m Breaststroke
- 50m Freestyle
- 200m Breaststroke
I scratched from the 100m Individual Medley (aka: IM – in this event I would have swam 25m of each stroke, fly-back-breast-free) as my right arm was already starting to give some issues after the first 2 events. I was starting to feel numbness, heaviness, my pull was not as strong and felt a fraction of a second slower than my left arm. This was totally psyching me out for my 200m Br and I decided it would be best if I didn’t over do it. My wellness team and I are working together to sort this out.
However, I felt really strong in the breaststroke events because of all the hard work and training. I introduced some new drills into my practices and I definitely felt the difference. My underwater pull out felt so good (I felt like a torpedo!), my kick was coming to complete finish, I kept my chin tucked tightly and I really extended into my glide. The flow and momentum was awesome. I am really excited to continue building on this as I approach the next meet in Thornhill and for Masters provincials in 6 weeks.
A big thank you to the folks at All Day Nutritionals and Team Aquatics Supplies for their continued support of the Laps of Love.
I made a little video of the meet day. Make sure to watch right to the end of the video to find out the results!!
See you in the pool,
