Today I swam in my first meet since 2014, when I received my diagnoses of hemi-facial spasms and cervical dystonia. It felt so good be surrounded by the energy of excited swimmers, families and familiar faces that I haven’t seen in years. I forgot how much I really missed it.
In this meet each swimmer was required to swim 5 events:
50m Fly – PB
50m Back- PB
50M Breast stroke
Optional relays: 200m IM and 200 Freestyle.
I can’t even believe that I swam all of the events, but I did! The official times have not been posted as of yet, but I will update the post once they are.
I just wanted to say thank you to Jake (TYMSC), Rick (MAC), and my friend and old teammate Rebecca (PMS) who all swam the 200m FR Relay for Laps of Love today. It really meant a lot to me for this relay to happen, and you all came together to make it happen. This is why I love masters swimming, everyone is so encouraging and supportive.
I also wanted to say a big thank you to my fiance Ryan, my daughters Syra and Sophia, my mom and dad, my big brother and my father in law who all drove hours to come and watch me swim.
This meet brings my lap count up to 1,844 – I’m almost at the 2,000 milestone!!!
I’ve made a short video about my day, enjoy!
See you in the pool,
